About Nordnet
Marko Ivanic
Head of IT infrastructure
How come you joined Nordnet?
"After working as a summer intern during my IT university studies, I joined Nordnet fulltime in March 2001. At that time, the company was very different, very entrepreneurial and small. Today we are far more structured and organized, but still with clear entrepreneurship in our culture. Also, I have always had an interest in the financial markets, and combined with my IT profession Nordnet was a perfect match!"
How has your career developed since you first started?
"When I started in Nordnet I worked with IT development. Later I switched into IT operations and also became, and still am, responsible for procurement in IT. In 2010 I took my first people management position which was the kind of challenge I really wanted. So, it is not difficult explaining why I have stayed with Nordnet for so long – I have continued to develop and I hope and think I will continue to!"
Why should people join Nordnet?
"The people and the culture! People are really friendly and driven, working hard towards the same targets. The organization is flat and everyone can make a difference – I think that differ us from other banks. In addition, working in IT you get the opportunity to work with very skilled people and cutting edge technology."
Sheila Nielsen
Team coach Telesales, part-time student
How come you joined Nordnet?
"I came across Nordnet at a student fair for business students at Stockholm University last winter. I joined a friend who studies business administration - I am actually studying HR myself! Having worked part time in customer service and sales since I was 16, the telesales manager became very interested in my experience and I found myself being impressed by Nordnet. Shortly after I was in for an interview and then suddenly I was employed in Nordnet – that was certainly not my plan joining my friend at the student fair!"
How has your career developed since you first started?
"I started in April 2010 with sales in Telesales, a few evenings a week. After three months I became team coach for the Telesales team and now I work more or less every evening of the week, with good possibilities to arrange my work hours to fit with my university schedule. I can see myself growing in and with the company for many years, also after my studies. Nordnet feels like a comfortable and safe workplace where performance is really paying off!"
Why should people join Nordnet?
"Nordnet is a young company in constant motion with a lot of talented and driven people. There’s a lot happening and you can really be a part of the development. Everyone is visible, independent of where you are in the organizational hierarchy – everyone can make a difference. I honestly think every day at work is joyful, even though I’ve been at university for many hours before arriving in the office in late afternoon."
Soile Ruuskanen
Marketing & Communications
How come you joined Nordnet?
"I started as a part-timer in Finnish eQ, which was later purchased by Nordnet, while finalizing my studies in Helsinki School of Economics. I found the financial sector attractive, with young and relaxed people. The company was relatively small, which gave freedom in the role. After finishing my thesis, eQ was a natural work place for me to continue working permanently."
How has your career developed since you first started?
"In eQ I started by assisting Private Sales and also worked as Junior Analyst one summer. Then I moved to marketing to the task of Marketing Planner and after a while I also acted as Deputy Head of Corporate Communications. After Nordnet’s and eQ’s integration, the natural transition was to continue working here, I was curious to see how the company developed, and be part of something new. Now I work in Marketing and communications with different projects in customer communications and corporate events. I can really see myself growing in Nordnet!"
Why should people join Nordnet?
"I find Nordnet fun to work at. It’s young and modern, creative and appealing. And Nordnet is international - we get to work with colleagues from different countries which I find both exciting and challenging. The size of the company is perfect; there is a lot of things happening – every day is different - but still it’s small enough to give everyone freedom to act which really develops your creativity. We make banking and finance fun!"
